Who Am I: IT Jack of All Trades

Hi All!


PNW native and Cloud IT geek here! You might be asking yourself, "why am I here?"


You might be a: Prospective client, recruiter, hiring manager, colleague, family member, friend, or even a member of a tech community I am active in.


Who am I and why are you here?

For now, you are here to read. So keep going.


In a nutshell, I'm a bearded, friendly, and talkative IT Professional. (sounds like half of Seattle, right?!)


I started working when I was 15, however, my IT career started as a Geek Squad Agent at Best Buy. With over 8 years of IT experience and a hunger for knowledge, I can help your business with an array of technical and support needs. If I don't know it, I will find out.


In the office, I've been known to crack a joke or two and highly value humor in the workplace. If you can make me laugh, let's talk.


Why you need me: I can cook! (keep reading, it gets better)


I've been known to bring in enough omelets to feed a small army. I'll make spaghetti that will make your head spin and homemade Mac n Cheese - better than your mom made growing up.


You might be thinking, "is this guy a cook or...in IT?" Well, let's just say I'm cooking up some new SQL, Python, Azure, PowerShell, C#, Salesforce, Agile, and Tableau skills in addition to going back to school for a B.S. in Information Technology at WGU.

Experts working with Directly, can apply previously gained experience and knowledge to help End-Users solve issues in a real-time chat and message channel whilst being rewarded for their efforts. 


This is a come-and-go based program where Experts can answer questions based on their own experience and availability. I am passionate about travel and riding my motorcycle. I have been all over the U.S. for the last 5 years!

Countries visited: Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada.

Question of the Month: Who is your favorite superhero and why?


Answer: Booster Gold.

Booster Gold is the hero no one knows about. He's more like you and me than most other DC Universe stars because Booster arms himself with tools he believes will help him achieve his own version of greatness, however, he's flawed just like everyone else; seeking the approval of others and in many cases, going about it the wrong way. Booster is a formidable hero and saves the world on many occasions and wants to be recognized for his successes. 

Sounds oddly similar to the lives of many IT workers?


1.  What’s someone you admire, and why?   

Richard Branson -  His view of the world is different than ours, however, we can definitely take some lessons from him. Consider something he said: "Every success story is a tale of constant adaption, revision and change."  


2.  Tell me three pet peeves.  

It really irks me when people leave tea bags in their coffee mugs and don't put them away! Gross! 

Hmm... I'm not particularly fond of too much perfume or cologne.

Oh and kids yelling on planes. You just can't get away.  


3.      What’s a typical day like for you? 

A typical day includes an omelet breakfast, emails, job hunting (for now), more emails, studying new IT skills, hopefully roller-blading and a small dinner.  


4.      Do you have any skills that most people don’t know about?

 Yes, most people don't know me yet! The ones that do, probably know that I have played and will play every sport and I am a huge board games and card games fan.  


5.      If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be?

Cabo San Lucas.


6.      Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I wanted to be an architect and build skyscrapers. As Ted Mosby would say from "How I Met your Mother", I wanted to paint the Seattle skyline with my architectural brush. Little did I know that career includes math. Lots of math.  


7.      If we went to happy hour, what would you order? 

I would probably order whatever looks like the best value.  


8.      Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me... 

Sleeping?


9.      What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next two years? 

My plan is to get a B.S. degree in Information Technology. 4 years consolidated into 2. Its going to be a crunch. Likely won't be sleeping on Sunday mornings.


10.  What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job? 

Inquisitiveness, persistence, and a good sense of humor.
